Making Tax Digital is the UK government’s plan to modernise the tax system. It requires businesses and landlords to keep digital records and submit tax information to HMRC using compatible software.
What’s changing — and when
For many businesses, MTD already applies to VAT. From April 2026 it will extend to many self-employed individuals and landlords under MTD for Income Tax, with further phases following. If your income is over the relevant threshold, you’ll need to keep digital records and send quarterly updates to HMRC.
Making the move simple
Our team can help you move smoothly to compliant digital systems, ensuring you meet HMRC requirements while saving time and reducing errors. We’ll recommend the right software for your business — whether that’s Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or Dext — set it up, migrate your records and train you to use it.
